Tyrone lets golf carts use its designated multi-use paths and the “share the road” streets shown on the town’s map. Use the map to see which streets carts can use.
What we haven’t checked. This page rests on the town’s Multi-Use Paths & Golf Carts page and its map. We haven’t read the town’s golf cart ordinance or its registration page, and the map dates from October 2021.
State law: see golf cart laws in Georgia.
See the Town of Tyrone’s multi-use path network map (PDF, October 2021). It marks the share-the-road streets and existing paths, and also shows proposed cart paths that may not be built yet.
Do you need a driver’s license to drive a golf cart in Tyrone?
The town page we read doesn’t state a license rule. Under Georgia law, a cart driver (a PTV driver) needs a valid driver’s license unless the town’s ordinance let unlicensed drivers ride before 2012. We haven’t read Tyrone’s ordinance, so check with the town.
How old do you have to be to drive a golf cart in Tyrone?
Driver ages aren’t on the town page we read. Check with the town.
Does a golf cart need a permit or registration in Tyrone?
The town registers golf carts. We haven’t read the registration requirements, so check with the town before you ride.
Where can golf carts go in Tyrone?
The town’s designated multi-use paths and its “share the road” streets, which the town’s map shows in blue. The town calls itself a share-the-road community, but not every street is on the map, so check the map before you ride.
Georgia law can limit which streets a town opens to carts, depending on when its ordinance was adopted. We haven’t read Tyrone’s ordinance, so go by the map, not by the speed limit sign.
Golf cart or LSV: what’s the difference in Tyrone?
A low-speed vehicle (LSV) is a separate class under Georgia law: four wheels, a top speed over 20 mph and up to 25, built or converted to the federal LSV standard. LSVs are registered and insured like other vehicles and can use roads posted 35 mph or less. An LSV can’t travel along roads posted over 35; lawful crossings are separately regulated.
Can you drive a golf cart at night in Tyrone? Hours and lights
The town page we read doesn’t set cart hours. Georgia law requires head lamps and tail lamps on carts used under a town’s cart rules.
Follow the law and posted signs. Follow applicable law, posted restrictions and lawful directions from officers. If permission is unclear, don’t use that road or path until confirmed. Rules can change after we check them.
Using SlowGo here
SlowGo routes on roads posted 35 mph or under by default; it doesn’t establish cart access here.
Check local rules before you ride. It doesn’t know which Tyrone streets are on the town’s share-the-road map yet, so a route can use a street carts can’t. Check the town’s map before you ride.
